Creating a Coffee Bar in Your Home
Many of us aren’t functional until we’ve had our first cup of coffee, relying on the robust brew to ease us into our morning routine. There are tons of coffee shops and chains available, but creating our own coffee station in our home will ensure our caffeine consumption is a whole lot simpler-- and a whole lot more affordable!
A coffee bar in your home will act as a standalone piece of coffee-shop heaven, right at your fingertips. Whether you have a small piece of counter space or an entire wall, here are some tips, tricks, and inspiration for your at-home coffee station.
Mugs, Cups, and Saucers
Keeping your mugs readily available is the simplest way to ensure a quick fix for your caffeine cravings. It doesn’t matter if all your mugs are the same or different, what does matter is that they’re the right size for your coffee-drinking need. Mugs that vary in size, shape and colour accent your coffee bar. An array of mugs create a lovely, eclectic atmosphere to enhance your coffee drinking experience.
If you’re taking your coffee to go, why not store your disposable and reusable cups at your coffee station hidden behind cupboard doors and drawers, ready for you whenever you need a pick-me-up.
Spoons, Stir Sticks, and Straws
Whether you’re keeping them displayed or in drawers, spoons, stir sticks, and straws that are detailed and in-line with the design of your home always look best. Put them in tall containers to easily grab them by their tops and handles and avoid touching all the others.
Cream and Sugar Storage
Of course-- unless you have a refrigerated area of your coffee station, keeping cream and milk on your bar will not be possible but that doesn’t mean that you can’t house sugar and coffee whitener so it’s readily available.
Keep different types of sugar in jars and bowls that are cohesive, but not necessarily matching and add syrups in pump bottles to add flavour to your drinks and turn them from plain to perfect!
Coffee and Tea Display
Keep your beans and leaves accessible by keeping displayed in glass, plastic, metal, or porcelain containers. Have different kinds, flavours, and roasts of coffees and teas available for anyone who needs a little pick-me-up and, for freshness, especially when it comes to coffee, try to find containers that are air-tight!
Coffee Makers and Kettles
If you’re purchasing a new coffee maker for your coffee station, we like machines that brew by the cup because it’s easier to individualize your drink when you’re not making it from a giant pot. Coffee, like home decoration, is best when you’ve got options.
Details, Details, Details
Just like with most decorating schemes, it always comes down to the details. When you’re creating your coffee station think of the little things that will really make a difference: do you want to have a rustic look? Something modern? Industrial? Cafe-like? Know your vision as you’re making your coffee bar and let the things you bring into the space really speak to your design.
Sure, a coffee bar is just a space in your home to give you a (much needed!) caffeine fix, but what if you enhance it? Use decorated bowls and cups and display decorative items that are cohesive with your design, like Stone Gable Blog did in their 3-tier galvanized display.
